This is the "Progress Map".  It gives you information about the lesson.
A white square indicates a screen you haven't  seen.
A brown square indicates a screen you've seen.
A white square with a red border indicates the screen you're currently in.
When you move your cursor over a square, you'll see the name of the screen it represents. When you click a square, you'll be transferred  to the screen it represents.
